Support Programme for Employees with Disabilities (SPED)
Overview
The Support Programme for Employees with Disabilities (SPED) is funded by the Social Welfare Department to provide employers of persons with disabilities with a one-off subsidy for procurement of assistive devices and/or workplace modifications. The SPED aims at facilitating employees with disabilities to discharge their duties at the workplace and enhancing their work efficiency. We have been authorised by the Social Welfare Department to assist in managing this programme and to conduct appraisals and to make recommendations on the applications submitted under this programme, our opinions are forwarded to and used by the SPED Assessment Committee of the Social Welfare Department as reference for making approval.
Project Application
Application Eligibility
1. Employers of persons with disabilities should be referred by any of the following referring organisations:
(a) NGOs operating SWD-subvented vocational rehabilitation services;
(b) NGOs running training courses for persons with disabilities or persons recovering
from work injuries with the funding support of the Employees Retraining Board;
(c) Selective Placement Division of the Labour Department;
(d) The Vocational Training Council; and
(e) Po Leung Kuk
2. In the case of the applying entity not having any contact with the aforementioned referring organisations listed in (a) to (d), direct contact may be made with the Po Leung Kuk SPED office to seek assistance.
Application Procedures
The Social Welfare Department will invite quarterly rounds of applications to this Programme.
Interested employers must duly fill in the prescribed application form in duplicate; the application is to be accompanied with quotations from at least two suppliers for each item applied for, and these documents should be enclosed together and mailed to the Social Welfare Department.
