Programme overview
Social Welfare Department(SWD) has launched the Support Programme for Employees with Disabilities (SPED) which provides employers of persons with disabilities with a one-off subsidy for procurement of assistive devices and/or workplace modifications. The SPED is to facilitate employees with disabilities in discharging their duties at the workplace and to enhance their work efficiency.
Po Leung Kuk is commissioned by SWD to administer the SPED(i.e. the SPED Administrator). Following receipt of an application, the SPED Administrator (Po Leung Kuk) shall prepare an assessment report by means of site visit and/or interview(s) with the applicant and the employee with disabilities to consider the appropriateness of the proposed assistive devices and/or modification works in facilitating the employee with disabilities to carry out duties at the workplace and to enhance the work efficiency. The assessment report on the application shall be submitted to the Committee for consideration.
Following the approval of the subsidy, the SPED Administrator(Po Leung Kuk) shall monitor the use of subsidy through inspection visit(s) at the workplace to assess the effectiveness of the devices procured and/or works carried out.
